Demon in the Details

Demon in the Details

September 2022

Demon in the Details is a 2-4 player, competitive, PvP analog game. The players are demonologists in a spell slinger’s tournament in the pirate city, all duking it out in order to prove they are the strongest Demonologist on the continent. Players take turns rolling dice which are used to purchase contracts and activate existing ones. They will have to navigate rerolling dice to be able to sling powerful abilities at each other while attempting to never break a contract (demons don't take kindly to that :O ).

This project was a big capstone and served
as one of my major projects for my second Game Design and Development course. I worked in a team of four, including myself, throughout the semester to deliver an analog game that has gone through sufficient playtests and iterations. Every step in the design process as well as the actual implementation of the game can be seen in our documentation included below.

My roles on the team included working on improving the general game mechanics
and balancing the game. I am very proud of how the game plays out because it is fun and I had a lot of fun making the unique mechanics and balancing them! Overall, I learned a lot from this project in terms of what it's like working on an analog game as well as the process that goes into playtesting your game and using those playtests to further balance your game mechanics.
