Out of Milk

Out of Milk
March 2022

Being college students, we've all experienced the disappointment you feel when you go to grab ice cream from the freezer but someone else finished it. Living with roommates can be cost-effective, socially advantageous, and just cool in general. But, it can definitely suck especially when looking at groceries. Other days, you look in the fridge and realize the milk you thought you got last week was actually two months ago. The cauliflower you bought to try out a new recipe already started rotting. Or you thought you had brownie mix but turns out you don't and now you don't get to have brownies :( . That's why we made it Out of Milk! It's a way to sync grocery lists between household members, keep an inventory of items, and tell you when you're running out!

This project was
my team's project during BrickHack 8, a collegiate hackathon hosted by Rochester Institute of Technology. Our team met over an extended, continuous period of time and worked together to create a final product that actually ended up being a winner in one of the categories! The category we won was the best use of Twilio in their project.

My role
on the team included working on the frontend, helping with some of the databases, figuring out Twilio, and all documentation on GitHub. The part I was most proud of was the frontend and how it turned out. It was my first time using Bootstrap and it was fun to learn as well as learning how to customize the framework Bootstrap gave me to create a custom feel for Out of Milk. I think the design is well done and that it turned out really well.
