Wrath of the Rat God
Wrath of the Rat God
April 2022
Wrath of the Rat God is a multiplayer, competitive, get-to-the-end first analog game. The players are a group of humans that ventured down into the sewers with their friends who have been turned into rats for destroying the statue of The Rat God. The Rat God says that because he’s feeling generous, the first one who escapes the sewers will be turned back into a human and be free to go. The rest will rot down here forever. Now the players must compete by moving around the board to try to be the first rat to escape the sewers.
This project was a big capstone and served as the "final" for my first Game Design and Development course. I worked in a team of five, including myself, throughout the semester to deliver an analog game that has gone through sufficient playtests and iterations. Every step in the design process as well as the actual implementation of the game can be seen in our documentation included below.
My roles on the team included working on improving the general game mechanics, drawing out a part of the board, as well as being the overarching project manager. I would help delegate tasks to each team member and help everyone stay on task. I am very proud of how the game plays out because it is fun and I had a lot of fun making it! Overall, I learned a lot from this project in terms of what it's like working on an analog game as well as taking up a project management position.
